Project P07

Transport of tail-anchored proteins to the inner nuclear membrane

The nucleus is surrounded by the inner and the outer nuclear membrane (INM, ONM), which are connected at the level of the nuclear pores. In this project, we are planning to investigate the mechanisms that govern transport of proteins to the INM. As model proteins, we are using tail-anchored proteins, which have a single transmembrane domain at their very C-terminus and which are inserted into membranes post-translationally. For our analyses, we are using transfection approaches as well as novel in vitro-systems in permeabilized cells.
